Local companies are being given the chance to get involved with the Anfield Main Stand expansion project in a forthcoming 'Meet the Buyer' event.

Carillion, the construction contractor for the project, have called for local companies, suppliers and subcontractors who are interested in working on the contract - or the new Royal Liverpool University Hospital development - to attend the occasion on Thursday February 26.

The event is being held at the Champions Lounge in Centenary Stand at Anfield throughout the morning of February 26, where members of the Carillion project team and supply chain will be on hand to talk about potential opportunities on both projects.

The Main Stand expansion will provide an additional 8,500 seats, taking the overall stadium capacity to around 54,000.

The new Royal Hospital will be the largest hospital in the UK to provide all single en-suite bedrooms on each patient ward. There will be 23 wards, including a large clinical research facility and a 40-bedded critical care unit and 18 state-of-the-art operating theatres.

Nigel Worboys, head of supply chain for Carillion, said: "The Anfield Main Stand expansion and Royal Hospital will be two of the biggest construction projects in the city and offer huge opportunities for local people, suppliers and subcontractors.

"They will generate genuine opportunities for the Liverpool regional economy and give local people and business the opportunity to get involved with such exciting projects."

Those who would like to attend should email their company name, address and postcode to rachael.phillips@carillionplc.com, putting 'Meet the Buyer' in the subject field along with their trade, ie, brickwork, electrical etc.

They will then be issued with joining instructions which will include details of the time allocated to them and parking arrangements. If oversubscribed times will be allocated on a 'first come first served basis'.
