Photos and video: How the Main Stand transformation is gathering pace
Liverpool FC has released new images from inside Anfield showing just how quickly the Main Stand expansion has taken shape in recent weeks.
Construction workers on site are busy transforming the building, ready for the 20,500 fans that will support the Reds from the stand next season.
Work to transform the new concourses into spaces where fans can gather together before the game is well underway. The internal walls and services that will provide the heating, ventilation, water, electrical systems, fire and safety systems have begun to be installed.
The first escalators have been fitted inside the stand. When construction is complete, these will provide fans with simple access to their seats and into the modern concourse facilities, which will be open to supporters with a ticket for the Main Stand.
Further progress continues on the construction of the expanded stand’s new roof. The rear section has been completed and Anfield’s two crawler cranes have begun the important task of erecting the new front cantilevers beneath the truss.
Meanwhile, work on the installation of an incredible 760 panes of glass is ongoing, including a unique section of red glazing, designed to provide fans inside with fantastic views across the city.
Liverpool’s expanded Main Stand will create over 1,000 new matchday roles at Anfield. The stand is set to comprise three tiers, a widened player tunnel, new team benches, wheelchair viewing positions and state-of-the-art facilities for fans inside.
