Liverpool Ladies FC duo Gemma Bonner and Alex Greenwood recently visited Anfield to see the latest progress on the expansion of the Main Stand ahead of the new season.

The Reds defenders were given a tour of the new stand and took special time out to meet some of the women helping to build what will become one of the largest all-seater single structures in European football.

The England internationals were then given an insight into the range of construction industry roles delivered by women at Anfield.

Carillion project director, Chris Ruta, said: "The Liverpool Ladies' site visit was a great way to highlight the variety of opportunities that construction has to offer.”

During the trip, the Ladies also visited the Main Stand’s two new fan concourses, which will be the biggest at Anfield, enabling all fans with a seat in the stand to enjoy premium facilities before the game.

The duo later joined construction workers fitting some of the 20,500 seats set to be installed inside the stand and were given an opportunity to try them out.

Reds skipper Bonner said: "It is a real privilege for myself and Alex to be invited to look at the progression made with the expansion of the new Main Stand.

"The Main Stand looks really impressive and supporters will be able to enjoy even more of a matchday experience once the expansion is completed."
