To celebrate the expansion of Anfield’s Main Stand, Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp surprised two unsuspecting fans with a very special gift.

Mother and son Alison and James Perez - number one and two on the season ticket waiting list - were invited to Melwood to take part in a documentary about being part of the largest group of fans to be offered a season ticket since 2001. Or so they thought…

Alison and James, who have been on the list since James was born over 20 years ago, were surprised by the manager, who delivered the news that their season tickets would be a special gift from the club as a very warm welcome to Anfield.

An excited Klopp delivered the news, stating: "These season tickets are a gift from LFC, so it’s not only the first season tickets, it’s for free. I feel a little bit like Santa Claus at this moment! Hopefully, I see you a few times in the stadium."

Alison said: “We didn’t think we’d spend this long waiting; we’ve been on the list for 20 years. After all this waiting it’s like a dream come true."

Earlier this year, Liverpool FC confirmed that up to 2,000 fans on the season ticket waiting list would be offered the opportunity to secure their ticket ahead of the 2016-17 season - the biggest group of Liverpool FC fans offered a season ticket since 2001.

The redevelopment of the Main Stand will see the capacity of Anfield increase to 54,000 – a new and exciting chapter in the cub’s history, allowing more fans than ever before to experience the world famous stadium.

The club eagerly anticipates welcoming each and every fan when they open the doors to Anfield this season.
