Jürgen Klopp believes Liverpool's participation in this summer's Audi Cup will help him understand exactly how his team is shaping up ahead of the 2017-18 season.

It was confirmed today that the Reds will face Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and an as yet unspecified third opponent in a two-day friendly tournament at the Allianz Arena on August 1 and 2

And Klopp believes taking on such illustrious opposition will give him a good idea of how ready his players are for a new Premier League campaign.

He told reporters: "The tournament is 12-13 days before the season starts and therefore it has a very high relevance sports-wise.

"We will [have been] in training for more than a month and then we want to find out where we stand and, of course, you can only find out where you are if you play the best teams.

"Bayern and Atletico are some of the best teams."
