LFC Foundation hosts LGBTQ+ football tournament

LFC Foundation and Liverpool County FA hosted a football tournament last weekend to raise awareness of LGBTQ+ issues and promote health and wellbeing in the community in the build-up to Liverpool Pride.

The tournament, hosted at Anfield Sports and Community Centre on Saturday, saw five teams - The Brink, Mersey Marauders, Mersey Lisbon, Barclays, and She Drew the Gun - go head to head.

The Brink, a team from the well-known dry bar in Liverpool, won the tournament, claiming a 3-2 victory in a tense final against Mersey Marauders.

David McParland, LFC Foundation’s project lead, said: “The event was a great success and there was a brilliant atmosphere at Anfield Sports and Community Centre.

“We’ve had excellent feedback from those who participated, and expect to host the tournament again next year, making it bigger and better than ever.”
