Having marked Fernando Torres' Chelsea debut with a 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge just seven months earlier, the Reds again returned to Merseyside with three points thanks to Glen Johnson's dramatic late winner.

Maxi Rodriguez gave Liverpool the lead shortly after the half-hour mark when he rounded off some sharp interplay involving Charlie Adam, Luis Suarez and Craig Bellamy.

Chelsea equalised early in the second half when a certain Daniel Sturridge - who came off the home bench at half-time - converted a cross-cum-shot from Florent Malouda from close range.

Pepe Reina then denied Branislav Ivanovic with an excellent save as the home side pressed for a winner, but it was former Chelsea man Johnson who would have the final say with just three minutes remaining.

Adam pinged a cross-field pass to the right-back, who cut inside England colleague Ashley Cole before coolly slotting past Petr Cech with his left foot to snatch the three points and spark a trademark Kenny Dalglish celebration on the touchline.
