Liverpool's travelling party set off on their tour of the United States from John Lennon Airport in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Just hours on from a 2-0 friendly victory over Huddersfield Town, Jürgen Klopp and his players took to the skies for an 11-hour flight to San Jose.

As well as those who have been back on duty since the beginning of the month, the squad included vice-captain James Milner and new signing Ragnar Klavan.

Pre-season training sessions will continue upon arrival and for the next week, until an International Champions Cup clash with Premier League rivals Chelsea at the Rose Bowl on Wednesday July 27.

The team’s second match of the tournament is a meeting with Italian giants AC Milan, to be played at Levi’s Stadium three days later, on Saturday July 30.

The American leg of pre-season will then conclude with a friendly match against Serie A side AS Roma at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, on Monday August 1.
