'Jürgen Klopp gives every Academy player hope'
Jürgen Klopp's willingness to give youth a chance means hope springs eternal for all of Liverpool's Academy prospects, according to Alex Inglethorpe.
The Reds boss has a reputation for blooding youngsters into first-team football from his time with Borussia Dortmund, and offered several players from the club's youth sides opportunities to shine last season.
And in an exclusive interview with the official Liverpool FC magazine, Academy director Inglethorpe reveals that the German's style of management gives encouragement to everyone at Kirkby.
“I think if you are at an academy, the biggest thing is hope - having that hope that you can one day make it to the first team,” Inglethorpe explains.
“Without feeling that is possible, there is no purpose to your training on a daily basis and that makes it extremely difficult to turn up each morning and give your all.
“Every young player here knows that, if they are good enough, they will at some point be given a chance to train at Melwood, or that the manager will see them, or his staff will see them.
“I think that's the biggest thing a first-team manager can provide a young academy player with: hope. And Jürgen certainly does that. The hope that the boys will get a chance to impress is what keeps academies alive.”
