Academy players receive talk from SAS veteran
Liverpool FC recently welcomed Floyd Woodrow MBE to the Academy to deliver a motivational talk to the Reds' U23 and U18 sides.
After becoming one of the youngest ever soldiers to be selected for the UK’s elite Special Air Service regiment at the age of 22, Woodrow served for his country in Iraq before being awarded an MBE for his work in Afghanistan.
He visited the Academy to educate the players on goal-setting, self-leadership and personal motivation as the youngsters approach the end of the season.
Phil Roscoe, head of education and welfare for Liverpool, said: “It was fantastic to be able to welcome someone so passionate and hard-working as Floyd into the Academy to educate the boys on a whole host of topics such as leadership and working in a team.
“It was really interesting to listen to Floyd’s stories about obstacles that he had overcame in order to get to where he is now and I am sure that the lads will take some of his motivational techniques on board in the future.”
