Liverpool FC U14s and U17s visited the German capital Berlin last week to pay their respects to those who passed away during World War I and World War II.

Alongside the Premier League, the Reds visited the Berlin Wall before being educated on the Bundestag, Germany's federal parliament.

After participating in the Football and Friendship Cup against Hertha BSC, both sides then placed a wreath at the city's Lissenthal Cemetery.

Marc Bridge-Wilkinson and Jonathan Robinson's side were then introduced to Britain's Ambassador to Germany, Sir Sebastian Wood, before both teams attended the Bundestag Reception - with the Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, and French President Emmanuel Macron among those present.

Following readings from both sets of players at the Bundestag Reception, each player was then presented with a Remembrance certificate as the outing drew to a close.

LFC's head of education and welfare, Phil Roscoe, said: "It was a truly fantastic experience for the lads to have been involved with this trip. For the players to have met the likes of Sir Sebastian Wood and German Chancellor Angela Merkel is absolutely brilliant and was a once-in-your-lifetime experience.

"We would like to thank the Premier League for inviting Liverpool Football Club on behalf of the league - this was a wonderful trip for our players."
