Can and Lovren pay special visit to local primary school
Liverpool duo Emre Can and Dejan Lovren took time off from their busy Manchester United preparations to pay a special visit to Our Lady and St Swithins Catholic Primary School for a Premier League Sports event alongside the Liverpool FC Foundation.
The school in Croxteth is engaged with the LFC Foundation’s Premier League School Sports Programme, which delivers PE lessons to different year groups to help keep pupils fit and healthy. The sessions are delivered as part of the national curriculum.
Reds pair Can and Lovren took part in a number of multi-skill exercises to help develop agility, balance and co-ordination before taking part in a Q&A with the youngsters.
Reflecting on their visit to Croxteth, Can said: “It was brilliant for myself and Dejan to be able to visit Our Lady and St Swithins Catholic Primary School and try our hand at a variety of different multi-skill exercises.
“The children were delighted when we joined in with the skills sessions and the Premier League School Sports Programme is yet another important programme that the LFC Foundation is involved with.”
The LFC Foundation Schools Programme has been designed to provide children with access to qualified and experienced coaches who work both alongside school staff and independently, to deliver national curriculum lessons and sport specific extra-curricular activity.
Andrea Cooper, head of the LFC Foundation, added: “It is brilliant to be able to welcome Emre and Dejan to Our Lady and St Swithins Catholic Primary School to participate in the various skills sessions with the children.
“The Premier League Sports Programme is a great initiative to get kids active in the local community and the LFC Foundation is delighted to help deliver this locally.”
