Jon Stoddart steps down from Operation Resolve role
The Home Office have confirmed Jon Stoddard has resigned from his role as the lead of Operation Resolve – the criminal investigation into the Hillsborough disaster – due to health reasons.
The assistant commissioner has headed up the inquiry since its formation in December 2012, but has stood down from his position.
The Operation Resolve investigation covers the broad sequence of events surrounding the 1989 FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest that led to the deaths of 96 children, women and men on April 15, 1989.
