Carlsberg has marked the 25th anniversary of its partnership with Liverpool FC by brewing a limited edition beer using unique research and state-of-the-art technology that harnesses the atmosphere generated by fans.

Hops, one of the main ingredients in beer, help to provide a distinctive taste – and now Carlsberg has created a drink using hops unlike any other.

Scientists at the Carlsberg Research Laboratory in Copenhagen have cultivated special red hop plants by immersing them in footage of 25 years of Reds matches and the sound of roaring supporters.

The unique process was made possible by the installation of a powerful sound system and video screen displaying iconic LFC moments of the past three decades at the brewery’s Copenhagen greenhouse.

After six months, the red hops were harvested to brew the special Carlsberg Liverpool FC beer, which can be sampled in special pubs and at Anfield during the Premier League clash with Huddersfield Town next month.
