Reds saddened by passing of Anfield stadium worker
Liverpool Football Club are deeply saddened by the recent passing of Anfield stadium worker Paul Smith.
The 56-year-old – a hugely popular figure among club staff and visitors alike – died as a result of coronavirus last month.
Paul had worked at Anfield for nearly three decades, beginning as a safety steward. More recently, he was a familiar, welcoming face to those entering the Main Stand’s Carlsberg Lounge.
Such was the regard in which he was held, the likes of Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher and a number of other Reds legends delivered words of support to Paul while he was ill.
Following his passing, Jürgen Klopp sent a personal message of condolence to his family via one of Anfield’s stewards.
The thoughts of everybody at Liverpool Football Club are with Paul’s family and friends.
