Matip visits local school to help with PL Primary Stars Programme
Joel Matip visited St Michael and All Angels Catholic Primary School this week to lend a hand with the Premier League Primary Stars Programme.
Reds defender Matip went to the school in Kirkby along with the Liverpool FC Foundation before participating in a Q&A with the children taking part in the initiative.
The Premier League Primary Stars Programme uses the appeal of the Premier League and Liverpool FC to connect with young people and create healthier and more positive futures for all children.
The programme focuses on improving the physical literacy and learning of the children, as well as teaching them relevant life skills and behaviours.
Liverpool FC Foundation community coaches deliver the programme in 21 schools, running four weekly mini-leagues and tournaments to enable schools to engage in competitive sporting opportunities.
Matip said: “This programme is brilliant as it combines football with education. It’s important that youngsters understand the importance of getting a good education as well as keeping fit and active.”
Head of the Liverpool FC Foundation, Andrea Cooper, added: “Premier League Primary Stars is a fantastic programme that combines sport and education in a fun and engaging way.
“It was great to see Joel get involved with the pupils today and help to emphasise the key messages of health and education.”
