Students from the LFC Foundation Football College are travelling to America this week to play in one of the most prestigious youth tournaments in the world.

The Dallas Cup - an invitation-only competition – sees 180 teams compete across seven different age categories for a chance to play in the finals at the 20,500 capacity Toyota Stadium in Texas.

Fifty-four players from the college will travel to the tournament as part of their USA tour, which aims to give students the life-changing opportunity to experience competitive football abroad, play against teams from around the world, sample new cultures and explore US scholarship options.

U17 defender, Fidan Hajdarisaid said: "The Dallas Cup is one of the reasons I joined the college.

“My education is my priority, but to play in this tournament against teams from around the world is just brilliant.

“I’m hoping to get an insight into the American way of life and be offered a scholarship when I finish my studies.”

Andrea Cooper, head of LFC Foundation, added: “It’s fantastic to see so many of the LFC Foundation Football College students heading over to America again for the Dallas Cup.

“In the last three years, the college has made it as far as the semi-finals and the finals, so we are hoping for similar success this year.”

The college, based at Wyncote Sports Ground in south Liverpool, is open to boys and girls between 16 and 19 and provides football and coaching training alongside academic qualifications, including BTEC Level 2 and 3 in Sport and GCSE Mathematics and English.

They are now recruiting for September 2017 – for more information email davidj@lfcfoundationcollege.com or call 0151 724 4983.
