Mohamed Salah headed to a local school in West Derby this week to visit young Liverpool fans.

The forward met hundreds of excited children at St Paul’s Catholic Junior School, where he took part in a series of Q&A sessions, signed autographs and had photos with the pupils from all eight classes.

The club also donated an LFC shirt, signed by the Egyptian, which will be raffled by the school to raise funds for the Owen McVeigh Foundation.

“It’s very important to us as players to get out and visit the fans in the local area,” Salah said.

“We love meeting our young fans and to get the opportunity to talk to and inspire the kids is really special for us.”

LFC committed to first-team players visiting schools in the local area after autographs and photographs were prohibited outside Melwood training ground for health and safety reasons.

The school visits provide a safer environment for young fans to collect autographs and allow even more local children to meet the players face to face.

Jamie Luck, head teacher at St Paul’s Catholic Junior School, said: “It’s great to see Mo Salah visit the school today and spend some time with the kids.

“Having one of their idols speak to them about the importance of working hard and aspiring to be the best that you can be has really inspired the pupils and I’m sure they will all have taken a lot from today’s visit.”
