Jürgen Klopp delivered a heartfelt message of thanks to football supporters for all they have done to help during these challenging times.

Fans have been coming together, regardless of club colours, during the COVID-19 pandemic to support those in need.

The absence of football has left a hole for many in their lives but despite this, supporters have come together by volunteering in the community and raising money for important causes, in particular at the Merseyside PPE Hub and Fans Supporting Foodbanks.

The Merseyside PPE Hub provides PPE for free to anybody who does not feel safe in their day-to-day job or walk of life. The initiative was set up because of the lack of response in providing PPE for frontline health and social care workers.

Different organisations and individuals, who share the same goals and values from the community, have come together to work on the most efficient way to get PPE to those who are in desperate need.

During lockdown, the volunteers at the hub created 48,000 PPE visors using local school printers, 3D printers at home – as well as providing scrubs, hand sanitiser and gloves.

Fans and the club have also rallied to support the Fans Supporting Foodbanks initiative during lockdown.

The use of foodbanks during this time has risen exponentially, with supporters coming together to help raise vital funds and help distribute food to those who need it most.

Approximately 25 per cent of food donations to Fans Supporting Foodbanks are collected on a matchday. Despite the Premier League having been suspended, that didn't stop fans coming together to support LFC's Emergency Foodbank Appeal in support of the Trussell Trust foodbank network.
