LFC to support local families with breakfast parcels and lunches over Easter
Liverpool Football Club’s community team, Red Neighbours, and its official charity, LFC Foundation, are continuing to support their local communities next week by delivering more than 1,200 breakfast parcels and packed lunches to local children and families.
The Red Neighbours team is supporting 30 schools in Anfield and Kirkby with 225 breakfast parcels, which will be distributed to local families requiring a little extra support throughout the Easter break.
The breakfast parcels, which contain essential items such as eggs, milk, cereals and bread to help feed a family of four for a week, will also have a seasonal twist with the inclusion of some delicious hot cross buns.
LFC Foundation will be providing more than 1,000 packed lunches to participants attending their Easter sports camps at six sites across the Liverpool City Region and local families attending their Go Play sessions at local public parks and open spaces.
LFC Foundation's packed lunches, which will consist of a sandwich, drink, and health snack, have been made possible thanks to funds donated by The Steve Morgan Foundation and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.
In addition to the breakfast parcels and packed lunches, the club is continuing its 1,000 free weekly meals initiative, which are being distributed throughout Anfield and Kirkby, as part of the club’s COVID-19 community response work.
Forbes Duff, Red Neighbours' senior manager, said: "We understand that holidays can present a challenge for many families in our local communities, especially during these unprecedented times. It’s important to the club, Red Neighbours and LFC Foundation to take care of our neighbours, participants and local people and demonstrate our continued support.”
As part of its food poverty focus, the club, Red Neighbours and LFC Foundation since the outbreak of COVID-19 have donated more than £320,000 to the North Liverpool Foodbank, and provided 58,000 freshly-prepared free meals (1,000 per week) to support local families.
