Gerard Houllier is backing Kenny Dalglish to lead Liverpool back into the top four this season.

The former Reds boss believes the return of inspirational skipper Steven Gerrard will give the team the boost they need as they seek to return to the Champions League.

He said: "I think they'll finish in the top four. I believe in them.

"Don't forget Steven Gerrard is not playing and, when he comes back, he'll make a difference."

Meanwhile, Houllier has also revealed he is unlikely to return to management again.

The 63-year-old left Aston Villa after just one season after being admitted to hospital in April with chest pains.

Houllier said: "I've got to admit that, probably, I won't go back into management. I'm practically 85 per cent. I'm still getting there.

"Obviously, the profession that I used to have was not the best to keep in good health because of what I have."
