Coady earns Bolton draw
A fantastic late header from Conor Coady earned Liverpool Reserves a deserved 1-1 draw against a strong Bolton outfit on Monday night.
The skipper rose high to send a towering header beyond the reach of Jay Lynch in the 83rd minute, from Toni Silva's pinpoint free-kick delivery.
Rodolfo Borrell's young side were full value for the draw and were desperately unlucky not to take all three points.
Bolton fielded an experienced line-up including Turkish international Tuncay, Robbie Blake, ex Fulham and Tottenham man Sean Davis and Dedryck Boata.
It was Tuncay who gave the home side a 14th minute lead when he slotted home from close range.
Despite the strength of the Bolton line-up it was Borrell's charges who played some terrific football.
Raheem Sterling fired over the bar when clean through, and he also saw a close range effort well saved by Lynch in the second half.
Nathan Eccleston fired just wide and Krisztian Adorjan was so unlucky to see a fine effort hit both posts.
Coady then got the deserved equaliser and Silva was unfortunate not to win it in the last minute when his blistering strike from 25-yards out hit the bar.
Coady fired just over with the last kick of the game as the Reds came close to claiming all three points, but Borrell was happy with his side's overall display.
"We played really well and I am proud of them, but we deserved the win," Borrell told Liverpoolfc.tv.
"We created many chances and played some fantastic football and I am quite proud of what the lads did against an experienced team.
"Krisztian Adorjan was unlucky when his shot came back of the two posts but this happens sometimes in football.
"Toni Silva made an impact for us when he came off the bench. Everyone knows he is very skilful and he did some good things for the team."
