Kelly: The boss boosts my confidence
Martin Kelly insists that having a manager like Kenny Dalglish believing in his ability gives him a boost in confidence.
Kelly has started the last four games for the Reds, and the teams he has appeared against most often in his career so far include Chelsea, Manchester United and Everton.
The fact that his manager is prepared to pick him for matches against our biggest rivals is a source of confidence for the tall defender.
"It's always good to know the manager trusts you enough to put you in the side," Kelly said in an exclusive interview in this week's magazine. "I think he trusts all the players here, based on what he sees in training every day. I think you need that trust as a manager, as well as a player. It works both ways.
"For me to have his trust is fantastic. You're playing for the manager, and for the fans as well. I want to keep working hard to ensure he keeps trusting me.
"The kind of player that Kenny was, and the idol that he is to so many people; to know he's willing to put you in gives you extra confidence. For him to be our manager is fantastic for us players and for the club and I can only see good things happening here."
The full Kelly interview, an exclusive with Sebastian Coates and a look back at Steven Gerrard's landmark league matches is in this week's LFC magazine.
