Finney played alongside Bill Shankly in the Preston North End team and the pair had great respect for each other.
The England legend is also an admirer of Liverpool and once said the 5-0 win over Nottingham Forest in 1988 was one of the finest displays he had ever witnessed.
Liverpool boss Dalglish, who was in charge of the Reds that day, has paid his own birthday wishes to a footballing great.
