Jose Enrique believes Luis Suarez will become a prolific goalscorer for Liverpool following his first hat-trick for the club against Norwich on Saturday.

The 26-year-old defender says his friend's treble - which included a goal from just past the half-way line - is the best he has ever witnessed.

And he thinks a luckless spell for the Reds in front of goal could now be over with 17-goal Suarez leading the attack.

"It was an amazing performance from Luis," Enrique told The Echo. "I don't think I've ever seen a better hat-trick than that.

"They were all amazing goals - the first with his left foot, the second with his right and then the third was unbelievable from so far out.

"We all know Luis is a very special player for us. He's been really unlucky this season. He's played like that many times and had many chances and deserved a lot more goals.

"I told him after the game that he just needed a little bit of luck. I know he will score many more goals here in the Premier League.

"Wherever he has been, whether in Uruguay or Holland, if you look at his record he's scored a lot. I'm sure he will do the same here because he's a top striker.

"He always plays well, always at 200 per cent. He showed against Norwich exactly what he can do and caused their centre-backs so many problems all the way through the game."
