Most Exciting PL Games: 78
We continue our countdown of Liverpool's 100 Most Exciting Premier League Games with a commanding win at Elland Road in 2002.
LFC's Most Exciting PL Games No.78: February 3, 2003. Leeds 0-4 Liverpool.
Leeds bore the brunt of a hurricane of negative press reports in the aftermath of this game. And the frustration that transmitted its way down from the stands onto the pitch helped Liverpool exploit the frailties of a Leeds side struggling to perform under pressure.
As one press report claimed, in reference to Phil Thompson's Liverpool's pre-match ritual: "Liverpool began in a huddle, Leeds in a muddle, and nothing much changed."
Rio Ferdinand turned the ball past his own keeper on 17 minutes. Then Emile Heskey added to David O'Leary's misery by striking twice in two minutes on the hour mark.
Michael Owen sealed the 4-0 win for the Reds on 89 minutes.
Each weeknight during the summer we'll reveal four more from our countdown from 6pm BST on LFC TV. 11-minute highlights will then be available on LFC TV Online the following morning. LFC TV is available FREE to view on SKY channel 434 and Virgin channel 544 (as part of the XL pack).
