Our new boss Brendan Rodgers is not short of admirers from around the footballing world.

He led Swansea to promotion to England's top flight in 2010 and last season his side captivated Premier League audiences with an entertaining brand of aggressive, possession football.

Here is a selection of what his peers have said about the man from Carnlough, Northern Ireland.

"I am very happy with his appointment at Liverpool, especially because he did it as a consequence of all his amazing work at Swansea. Brendan is a good man, a family guy and a friend. When he joined us at Chelsea he was a young coach with lots of desire to learn. But he was also a coach with ideas, who was ready not just to listen but also to communicate and share."
Jose Mourinho, Real Madrid manager

"Brendan Rodgers' Swansea play with freedom, a positive style going forward. They are a bit more cautious than Blackpool because they were really a very offensive-minded team. You have to give credit to the manager for doing that. They are brave but not adventurous because they go through their wingers and keep possession. They do not throw all their bodies forward. They pass the ball well. They have a kind of conservative possession so they don't concede goals."
Arsene Wenger, Arsenal manager

"The way Swansea have played this season has been admirable. They have played some fantastic attacking football. Their manager has insisted on that and stuck by his principles. They have had a fantastic season. They look as if they are enjoying their game. They all want the ball and want to play. When you talk about how you pick Manager of the Year, there always has to be a consideration about the resources. Brendan Rodgers came out of the Championship and only brought two players in, Danny Graham from Watford and Gylfi Sigurdsson from Germany, and even that was not for a big financial outlay. He stuck by the players who got them into the Premier League and they have rewarded him."

"I'm a big fan of his. I think he is fantastic. Not just now. Young Frank [Lampard] worked with him at Chelsea and spoke so highly of him. Frank Lampard Senior worked with him at Watford and then went to Reading with him and he used to tell me how good he was. He is spot on I think, you have got to look at the way he has got them playing. I think it is fantastic, I really do. I can't speak highly enough of the job he has done at Swansea. They play, they pass the ball and they take risks on the ball. If we could get youth teams playing that way I think the game would be a much better game and we would produce better technical players."
Harry Redknapp, Tottenham manager

"I think Brendan Rodgers has done a brilliant job with what he's done there. I think the football that they play is excellent, his style is very good and they are doing great in the league. Brendan's done a great job, he's worked very hard to get in the position he's getting and deserved everything he's getting."
David Moyes, Everton manager

"Brendan Rodgers' Swansea play like Ajax or Barcelona. They play out from the back, the 'keeper is almost an 11th outfield player. Rodgers has got a philosophy that is different. That is why I rate him very highly. Blackpool did it a couple of years ago and they did very well for the first half of the season but they are still doing well. I think their culture of play is a big advantage to them."
Martin Jol, Fulham manager

"Once or twice during the 2011-12 season, when Swansea had bad runs, people thought, 'Is Brendan going to change his philosophy?' And he didn't. He stuck to his beliefs and he started getting good results again. They would have swam the channel to finish fourth from bottom, but the fact they can finish mid-table is absolutely brilliant. It's down to the manager, staff and group of players. But the bottom line is they have a good manager. He will always keep the same philosophy, he's such a bright coach and the passing style will remain the same."
Chris Coleman, Wales manager

"Brendan was my youth team coach at Reading and I know him very, very well. He's always had a very clear vision of how the game should be played and he's stuck to his principles and I admire him very much for that.  You have to say that Swansea have attacked the game and tried to play and been encouraged to play and taken chances when perhaps they shouldn't take chances, and done it admirably. They've been absolutely outstanding."
Alan Pardew, Newcastle manager

"When Mourinho appointed him, it proved a good choice because Chelsea were happy with what he did at the club and he went on to start his career. And at Swansea he has shown he does not leave his philosophy in second place - it is the most important thing. When you try to implement a philosophy like Brendan is trying to do, there is a dignity in the path that he chooses, because it's a difficult path for a team that needs points. He privileges good football and football well played and attacking football. That is something of immense value to me. When you try to do that at a club like Swansea, it's something that for me is more prestigious."
Andre Villas Boas, former Chelsea manager
