LFC's Most Exciting PL Games No.63: August 30, 2003. Everton 0-3 Liverpool.

Gerard Houllier told the post-match press conference: "The Reds are not dead yet."

He also announced that: "In big games, big players show big." The Frenchman was referring to Michael Owen, whose form had waned a little to coincide with a drab start to Liverpool's 2003-04 campaign.

A trip across Stanley Park would either galvanise their season or make a slow start seem a whole lot worse. However, the Reds got the victory and the post-match inquest centred upon the inadequacies of David Moyes' team rather than those of Houllier's.

Steven Gerrard, who had been handed suspensions after the two previous Merseyside derbys, was in full control and allowed Harry Kewell, El Hadji Diouf and Vladimir Smicer to bomb forward.

But it was the man for big occasions, in his manager's own words, who struck twice to silence Goodison before Kewell got his first Liverpool goal.

Each weeknight during the summer we'll reveal four more from our countdown from 6pm BST on LFC TV. 11-minute highlights will then be available on LFC TV Online the following morning. LFC TV is available FREE to view on SKY channel 434 and Virgin channel 544 (as part of the XL pack).
