@LFC hits 1m: Win signed shirt
Liverpool Football Club's official Twitter account has passed the one million followers mark – and to celebrate we're giving away a signed Reds jersey to one creative fan.
In reaching the milestone, the Reds have become only the ninth sports team in the world to reach one million followers.
Liverpool were one of the first clubs in England to launch an official Twitter page back in January 2009 - and we've spent the last three years pushing the boundaries.
Interaction with fans is one of our main priorities on Twitter, and we've even given supporters the opportunity to design our unique and colourful backgrounds to make our page stand out from the rest.
We have hosted live chats with ex-Reds including Luis Garcia, Ryan Babel, Titi Camara, Terry McDermott and Vegard Heggem - and earlier this year Lucas Leiva invited us into his home for a one-hour Twitter chat with supporters.
Time and again your tweets have appeared on the official Liverpool website, giving us instant reaction to breaking stories such as the appointment of Brendan Rodgers.
Of course we've also kept you updated like never before on what is happening at LFC, going behind the scenes at both Anfield and Melwood as club staff have Tweeted while on tour with the team, at matches and from as far afield as Malaysia, Singapore and Africa.
We've also utilised our Twitter page to get messages of support to Lucas after the midfielder was ruled out for the rest of the season in November, which he read at Melwood prior to undergoing surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Meanwhile, the views of our Twitter followers feature prominently on LFC TV programming, with fans opinions being discussed by presenters and Reds legends.
Liverpool FC would like to thank every supporter who is following us on Twitter and helped us to reach the one million mark today.
As a thank you, we're giving away a 2010-12 home shirt signed by last season's squad to the fan who can come up with the best ending to the following Tweet:
'I follow @LFC on Twitter because...'
All you need to do to be in with a chance of winning is Tweet your response and include the hash tag #1millionreds within it.
An @LFC panel will then pick our favourite response and a signed LFC jersey will be on its way to them.
