Yesil makes debut as U21s win
Samed Yesil made his Liverpool debut as Rodolfo Borrell's U21s thrashed Chelsea 4-1 at Griffin Park on Friday night.
The Germany U21 international played for 58 minutes and gave a lively display and had an effort cleared off the line.
Borrell's charges were outstanding and played some terrific football at times.
With Yesil linking with Daniel Pacheco to telling effect the Reds had the better of the first half.
Yesil on three occasions came close to scoring and Adam Morgan was unfortunate with two fine efforts that landed just wide.
In the second half Borrell's side always looked a threat and Jack Robinson gave the Reds the lead when he headed home following a cross from the right from Morgan.
Conor Coady then cooly slotted home a penalty after Morgan had been fouled in the penalty area, and despite Patrick Bamford netting for Chelsea to make it 2-1, Borrell's side continued their attacking momentum.
Krisztian Adorjan fired a superb low drive to make it 3-1 after a dazzling run from Pacheco, and impressive substitute Michael Ngoo made it 4-1 with a fine solo goal.
Ngoo, who was amongst the Academy squad present at Wednesday's vigil at St George's Halll, also paid his own personal tribute to the 96 when he took off his shirt to reveal a shirt displaying the poignant message '96 reasons for justice'.
