Liverpool fans are trying to get You'll Never Walk Alone to the top of the charts this week as a tribute to the 96 who died at Hillsborough and those who have fought to reveal the truth about the tragedy.

In a week when the Hillsborough Independent Panel released its report, supporters have joined forces on Twitter, Facebook and fan forums to spread the word - and they've managed to get our famous anthem to No.1 in the iTunes chart ahead of artists like The Script and Ne-Yo.

The Gerry and the Pacemakers track is also in the top five of the Amazon list, and supporters are hoping one final push could help it be the overall No.1 when all the download and CD charts are combined on Sunday afternoon.

Fans have been helped by high-profile celebrities who have tweeted about the campaign, including ex-England cricket captain Michael Vaughan, actor Robert Carlyle and MP Steve Rotheram.

You can download the track from iTunes now for 99p or get a physical copy on Amazon.
