Trio bring cheer to Alder Hey
Three of Liverpool's promising youngsters visited Alder Hey children's hospital on Friday afternoon.
Jordon Ibe, Cameron Brannagan and Connor Randall took a tour of the hospital's Oncology and M3 wards as part of an ongoing initiative which sees the Academy make a monthly visit to Alder Hey.
Phil Roscoe, Liverpool's head of education and welfare, said: "We've been visiting Alder Hey with our U21 and U18 players for years and it is important for a number of reasons.
"First and foremost, it's important to go and see the children at the hospital and support them because many of them are going through difficult times.
"Also, it's good for our players to realise that, while they may think they are feeling the strain or are down due to injury or other things football-related, when they come and see the children at Alder Hey it gives them an important sense of perspective.
"Lastly, its good for the lads to get a sample of the sort of community events they will be asked to attend as they progress through the Academy ranks and then hopefully into the first team and beyond."
Irene Axon, Alder Hey's senior community fundraiser, said: "The lads who came in were very comfortable with the visit and that helped massively.
"They talked to the families and the children, some of whom were very young and some who were not much younger than themselves.
"It's fantastic that the club continue to come in and support the children. It puts a smile on the young ones' faces and makes the day a whole lot easier for the adults."
