Allen: Winning run will come
Joe Allen is confident that Liverpool are on the verge of a winning run.
The Reds extended their unbeaten sequence in the league to eight games with a 0-0 at Swansea on Sunday.
Five of that tally have been draws and Allen knows that he and his teammates must start collecting maximum points on a regular basis.
He felt Liverpool were unlucky not to do that against his former club and is confident that a similar showing at Tottenham on Wednesday night could bring greater rewards.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com in the Liberty Stadium tunnel, Allen said: "We had a fair few chances to have taken all three points, but I know as well as anyone this is a tough place to come and they are a good side.
"We are all ambitious professionals who want to win every game so when you don't pick up the three points you are always disappointed, and that's natural, but there are positives for us to focus on and we are looking forward to Wednesday's match at Tottenham and trying to get the three points.
"We have extended our unbeaten run now in the league to eight games and we are getting that consistency now which we want.
"We would like to pick up more wins, that goes without saying, but we are confident that in the coming matches that's going to come.
"We will go to White Hart Lane with a high level of confidence and are confident we can get a good result."
Allen spent his first five years as a professional with Swansea before leaving to join the Brendan Rodgers project at Anfield this summer.
"It was exciting for me to come back," he reflected. "I had some great years here, Swansea have great support and there's a great bunch of lads in the dressing room as well, so it was nice to come home.
"Playing in midfield against Leon Britton was a strange but good experience as he has been something of a mentor to me, so it was a great challenge against a great player.
"Swansea was an incredible experience in my life and I can't be more grateful to this club. The ride they have been on has been an amazing story and to be part of that I feel very humbled and privileged.
"I'm in a new chapter of my life now at Liverpool and am loving life here. It's an incredible club to represent and I'm loving every minute of it."
Another friend and former teammate Allen came up against on Sunday was Ashley Williams.
The centre-back attempted to put Swansea in front during the second half only to watch Allen clear off the line.
"There was no way I was going to let him get a goal!" said the Welshman.
