Kuyt: Give 'very good' Brendan time
Former Reds forward Dirk Kuyt has described Brendan Rodgers as 'a very good manager' and encouraged patience at Anfield.
The Dutchman left Liverpool last summer to join Fenerbahce after six fruitful seasons on Merseyside, where he scored 71 goals in 285 appearances.
Kuyt was on target in the Champions League final of 2007 and struck against Cardiff during the Carling Cup triumph 12 months ago.
He departed for Turkey shortly after Rodgers was installed as boss but backed the Northern Irishman to help the club progress with time.
"Brendan Rodgers was actually quite good to me because he was one of the first people to ring me and wish me all the best with my career," the 32-year-old told BBC Sport.
"I think he is a very good manager and it is difficult sometimes but I think if they give him the time he can build a good team.
"They have very good games with some disappointing results. What I can make of it from here is that they are building a team and when you are doing that there can be ups and downs.
"We were very successful in the cup games under Kenny, but we had difficulties in the league and that is the problem in England.
"There are so many good teams that it is difficult to get on towards the Champions League."
