Being: Liverpool gets Emmy nomination
Being: Liverpool has been nominated in the Sports Emmy Award category for outstanding editing.
FOX Sport's documentary, which gave fans a unique insight into the heart of the club through unprecedented inside access, will face tough competition for the prestigious accolade.
The winner will be honoured during the 34th Annual Sports Emmy Awards ceremony on May 7 at Frederick P. Rose Hall, Lincoln Center in New York.
Being: Liverpool is also a finalist in the Cynonpsis Sports Media Awards category for Documentary Series, New Sports Show and Sports Series.
FOX's cameras rolled throughout the summer on the show as new manager Brendan Rodgers was appointed and took his squad to North America.
The six-part series followed the start to Liverpool's Barclays Premier League campaign right up until the transfer window closing.
Narrated by Golden Globe-winning actor and Reds fan Clive Owen, filming began in May 2012 before the show aired for the first time in the UK in September.
Michael Bloom, who commissioned the show, spoke of his pride at the prestigious acknowledgment: "It's a great honour for us to be nominated alongside such distinguished programming and it's a tribute to our production team's talent as well as the incredible trust Liverpool put in us.
"From start to finish it was an exhilarating experience. Being as close to the action and characters as it was all unfolding was amazing. We did what no-one had really done before.
The behind-the-scenes access brought team-talks from inside the dressing room, tactical discussions on the training ground, and a look inside the homes of Luis Suarez, Steven Gerrard, Lucas Leiva, Pepe Reina and others.
Fans watched as our South American stars played Monopoly, witnessed Raheem Sterling coming of age and followed Jamie Carragher with his son at the Academy.
"The incredible access we were granted and the trust the club had in us made the process quite enjoyable," continued Bloom. "We had so many stories to tell. We couldn't wait to watch the next cut.
"We have an Emmy nomination and iTunes Best of 2012 honour for Breakthrough Sports Series. Also, close to three million people watched the premiere on the FOX Network after an NFL Football game.
"So I'd say that's a pretty big impact for all of us."
