Liverpool FC Ladies produced a magnificent performance to beat reigning Women's Super League champions Arsenal 4-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

Matt Beard's new-look side were terrific on the night and it's now six points from their opening two games in the Super League for the ladies.

Arsenal beat Liverpool 2-1 in the Women's FA Cup semi-final at Anfield recently but Beard's charges gained sweet revenge at the Emirates and inflicted the first defeat on the Gunners in the league since July 2011.

Amanda Da Costa netted twice and Natasha Dowie and Louise Fors were also on target, and the scoreline could have been greater in the end.

American ace Da Costa fired the Reds in front with a sweet strike before she made it 2-0 on 52 minutes after being set up by Corina Schroder.

Swedish star Fors then set up leading scorer Dowie to make it 3-0 before the winger found the net herself with goal number four on 57 minutes after great play from Fara Williams.

Beard told Liverpoolfc.com: "It was a very pleasing performance and we did very well.

"Our level of performance was very pleasing and encouraging for the rest of the season."
