Liverpool striker Luis Suarez scored a delightful winning goal to hand Uruguay a 1-0 international friendly triumph over France on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old was introduced as a second-half substitute in Montevideo and required just five minutes to break the deadlock.

The Reds' No.7 broke free in the box and used the outside of his boot to find the far corner from a narrow angle; the strike was Suarez's 14th goal in his last 18 games for Uruguay.

Anfield colleague Sebastian Coates played the full 90 minutes at the Estadio Centenario and helped his country keep a clean sheet against the European outfit.

Reigning South American champions Uruguay are in World Cup qualifying action next week before kicking off their Confederations Cup quest against Spain on June 16.
