Liverpool Ladies stars Natasha Dowie and Amanda Da Costa were on hand to share a tip or two as more than 300 youngsters flocked to The FA Girl's Football Festival in Salford.

An afternoon of football activities, coaching sessions and mini matches took centre stage at MediaCityUK's free interactive fan zone.

Games included batak boards, a speed cage, an inflatable target for shooting practice, an inflatable pitch - plus a new trailer that houses The FA Women's Super League and Cyprus Cup trophies.

Liverpool's duo delighted youngsters by stopping for photos, signing autographs, sharing their footballing knowledge and getting involved in the games.

To add to the party atmosphere, there was hair braiding, face painting and cheerleading.

After the coaching was done, it was time to settle down and cheer on England in their first match of the UEFA Women's Euro 2013 - which The Three Lions narrowly lost 3-2 to Spain.

Match of the Day and CBBC Newsround captured the highlights of the day and a number of BBC guests including Robbie Savage, Jacqui Oatley and ex-England International Sue Smith joined in the fun.
