Loan watch: Andre scoops MOTM award
It was a busy weekend of action for Liverpool's loan players, including a man-of-the-match award for debutant Andre Wisdom. Find out more with our weekly loan watch round-up.
Andre Wisdom made his debut as Steve McClaren's Derby County were held to a 1-1 draw by Birmingham City on Saturday.
Wisdom played the full 90 minutes at right-back and picked up the club man-of-the-match award.
Commenting on his debut, McClaren told Derby's official website: "I thought Andre was immense for his first game.
"We knew that with Nicola Zigic in the Birmingham side they would have a physical presence in attack, which is why Andre came into the side ahead of Adam Smith.
"He slotted in with no fuss and he looks like he will be a very good player for us."
Andre can play in a few positions and he's someone we've been aware of from the minute we arrived, so he certainly adds something extra to the defensive unit.
"He's a leader as well as a good player and I spoke to a few people last week who said Andre was that type of player and person.
"He's got a good pedigree and he wants to be a leader, which is a great attitude to have.
"Coming here is going to be a big test for him but he's started well and we hope it continues."
Meanwhile, Fabio Borini came off the bench to net a stunning winner for Sunderland in the Tyne and Wear derby with Newcastle United at the Stadium of Light on Sunday.
Pepe Reina completed the match on Sunday night as Napoli responded to last week's defeat at Roma by beating Torino 2-0.
Oussama Assaidi was an unused substitute as Stoke City lost 3-2 at Old Trafford against Manchester United.
Conor Coady appeared as an 82nd minute substitute as Nigel Clough's Sheffield United beat Crewe Alexandra 3-1 at Bramall Lane.
It was a frustrating day for left-back Jack Robinson who gave away a penalty and was sent-off late in the game during the 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers.
Krisztian Adorjan played the opening 54 minutes as Groningen drew 2-2 with Vitesse Arnhem.Suso missed out through illness as Almeria lost 3-0 at Real Sociedad.
