'One of the best goals I've ever seen'
John Aldridge insists Luis Suarez's second strike against West Brom on Saturday - a sublime header from the edge of the penalty area - was one of the best goals he has ever seen.
Aldridge knows a thing or two about hitting the back of the net in Liverpool red - he plundered 63 goals in 104 games.
As both a player out on pitch and a fan on the terraces, he's witnessed first-hand some of the finest strikes in Anfield history.
So when he watched Suarez curl a powerful header beyond Boaz Myhill at the weekend, Aldridge knew he was watching something special.
"My favourite goal was Suarez's second," he wrote in his Liverpool Echo column.
"I know from experience that to score a header from the edge of the box takes some doing.
"The ball in by Aly Cissokho was mis-hit but the way Suarez met it was pure instinct. To put it in the top corner from there, I can't tell you how difficult that is.
"It was one of the best goals I've ever seen and no goalkeeper on the world would have saved it.
"This fella is the business and has a hunger and desire which is different to other players. Aside from his three goals on Saturday, he never stopped running."
In four Barclays Premier League games this season, Suarez has found the net six times, while his strike partner Daniel Sturridge is the division's top scorer with eight goals in nine appearances.
Aldridge, who formed partnerships with the likes of John Barnes and Peter Beardsley during his time at the club, believes confidence is key to the pair's fierce combination.
"Suarez has stuck up a great understanding with Sturridge and they clearly love playing together," he said.
"After a quiet first half, Sturridge really came to life on Saturday and what a chip that was for his goal. The way he took that on just shows the confidence of the lad and our front two are absolutely buzzing."
