Luis Alberto does not have to look far for an example to follow in succeeding at Liverpool.

The 21-year-old was born just three months after Reds teammate Philippe Coutinho, who has established himself as a crucial piece in Brendan Rodgers' project since joining in January.

Coutinho's younger colleague has naturally experienced a slower-paced start to life at Anfield, making six appearances for the club to date during 2013-14.

For Alberto, who not only shares a dressing room with the Brazilian playmaker but lives in the same neighbourhood, the No.10 is a person to look up to as he aims for more minutes.

"I admire Philippe and we get on well on and off the pitch," the Spaniard told Liverpoolfc.com.

"He can be one of the people who are an example for me. I look at many people as an example.

"Not only Philippe, but various others have said I need to be patient and work well and it will happen.

"When it arrives, then I have to show that I am good enough for Liverpool."

The manager's first completed signing of the summer has been aided in his adaptation to Merseyside by two important factors.

Not only the presence of compatriot Jose Enrique, but secondly, the close proximity of several Liverpool teammates to his new home in the city.

Asked how he has settled, Alberto responded: "Very well thanks to many of my colleagues, I am very comfortable.

"Jose Enrique, because we speak the same language, has helped me a lot. It is very pleasant to have colleagues living nearby - it is very helpful.

"I also have Philippe across the road, and Martin and Luis Suarez near; I am surrounded by colleagues, which makes life easier.

"I hope that, sooner rather than later, I will be able to speak the language. It is quite difficult but, little by little, I am learning a bit more."

Alberto watched from the substitutes' bench on Saturday as Rodgers' team rose to second in the Barclays Premier League with a 4-0 thrashing of Fulham.

Keen to restrict his focus on purely the next match, the No.6 did, however, admit that given the quality of players within the squad, his new side should aim for Champions League football.

He continued: "It gives us great confidence to have a good start, it is fantastic. It is an ideal moment that we have to take advantage of.

"We need to continue winning games and get to the end of the season in the highest possible place.

"The team is focused on having a good season; we have very good players and we must take advantage of this and reach our target.

"We need to go match per match and not to establish a goal. But we have very good players such as Luis, Daniel and Philippe, that can make the difference.

"The team should focus on getting into the Champions League."
