Ian Rush said goodbye to the second edition of his trademark moustache at the LFC TV studios this week, following a month-long campaign to raise money and awareness for Movember.

The Welshman, Liverpool's record all-time goalscorer, launched the club's support of the initiative at the beginning of November by agreeing to grow back his famous facial hair.

For the 52-year-old, the stunt brought back fond memories and benefited a positive cause - and fans still have the chance to show their support by visiting the official Liverpool FC Movember page.

Rush reflected: "The first couple of weeks were a little bit frustrating, but the longer it goes the more normal it seems to be. People think I have dyed it, but that's one thing I haven't done.

"It has been great, it brings back memories. I was in the Far East and they were telling me to keep it going - I've had a good reaction.

"It's nice to put it back on; when you have got it, people start talking about the games and my tradition when I played for Liverpool. It's nice for me to have a month to remind me of the old days."

Rush was in Liverpool city centre on Monday to remove the moustache, with the help of locally-based barber Mark Powell from Mark Powell Barbers.

The question is, though, would he ever consider growing the 'tache back for a remarkable third time?

"You never say never! It's for a good cause, that's what it's all about. Come next Movember, there's a chance I would do it," the former striker responded.

"When you take it off, you do look five or 10 years younger. Maybe for 30 days next Movember, I might actually do it again."
