Foundation coach praised by community
Liverpool FC Foundation community coach, Kevin Laing, has been given an early Christmas present from Barclays and been rewarded for his outstanding work in the local community.
Kevin, who coaches on the Liverpool FC Foundation's Respect4All programme, received 25 tickets from Barclays to watch Liverpool's 4-1 win over West Ham United last weekend.
This season, Premier League title sponsors Barclays, is thanking community heroes, fans and players for making the game what it is, and identified Kevin as one of their community heroes.
Kevin has been involved in the Repect4All programme for more than five years, helping to deliver free impairment-specific multi-sport classes to more than 180 children and adults with severe learning difficulties, visual and physical impairment (ambulant) and wheelchair users in Liverpool and Wirral every week.
Ryan Moignard, Liverpool FC Foundation Respect4All project lead, said: "Kevin is a worthy recipient of this prize. He is a committed and valued member of staff who often goes over and above his role. Kevin is always giving up his free time to volunteer at school holiday camps or offering to drive participants to sessions.
"He also uses his own knowledge and experience to offer advice and support to participants and their families. The entire team at the Foundation are proud of his achievements."
Speaking about his surprise, Kevin said: "I was completely shocked when I found out that I had won this prize because I wasn't even aware that I had been nominated. I am really grateful to the team for nominating me and I am so proud of the work that I help to deliver with the Liverpool FC Foundation.
"It is a really rewarding job which I am passionate about and love. I would like to thank Barclays for recognising me and the work of the Liverpool FC Foundation."
