Daniel Sturridge needs one goal to emulate his strike partner Luis Suarez and register 20 in the top flight for Liverpool this season - here are all the facts and figures ahead of Wednesday's meeting with Sunderland.

Only six times previously have two players scored 20 league goals in a season for Liverpool and in four of those campaigns the Reds went on to a league title success - twice in Division One and twice in Division Two.

The last time it happened was in the title-winning campaign of 1963-64 when Roger Hunt scored 31 and Ian St John 21. Currently, Suarez has 28 and Sturridge 19.

In all competitions this season, the Reds' front two have scored 50 between them in a total of 55 appearances.

Earlier this season, Liverpool won 3-1 at the Stadium of Light; Sturridge opened the scoring and Suarez netted twice, with Emanuele Giaccherini scoring for the home side.

The last meeting at Anfield was early in 2013, with Liverpool running out 3-0 winners. Suarez scored twice after Raheem Sterling had opened the Reds' account.

The last Liverpool player to score a hat-trick against Sunderland was Hunt at Anfield in February 1966. He is one of only four Liverpool players to achieve the feat.

Suarez has scored seven goals in his six games against Sunderland but missed a penalty in a clash with them at Anfield in August 2011.

The Uruguyan has scored 16 league goals at Anfield so far this season. The club record in the top flight is Ian Rush, who scored 23 in 1983-84.

The three goals Suarez netted at Cardiff City last Saturday was his sixth hat-trick for the Reds - all in the league. He averages a hat-trick for the club every 17 league games - the best ratio of any player to score three or more.

Only seven players have scored three goals in a game more often than the Reds' No.7.

The Uruguayan maestro has scored more Barclays Premier League goals for Liverpool than any other overseas player - his third at the weekend was his 66th, beating Fernando Torres' tally of 65.

Martin Skrtel has six league goals this season - more than any Liverpool centre-back of the last 40 years. Emlyn Hughes scored seven in 1972-73.

Jordan Henderson has appeared in every one of the Reds' last 50 league games. He scored four league goals in 71 games for Sunderland and five in 79 in all competitions.

Liverpool have scored 42 goals at home this season - the most ever scored at Anfield in a Premier League campaign is the 46 struck in 1995-96.

Only Manchester City (48) have scored more in front of their home fans this season.

If Liverpool score four goals in any other match this season, they will break Manchester United's Premier League record by scoring four or more goals in a game on 11 occasions.

The Reds have now scored 40 league goals away from home, beating their Premier League best of 38 set last season.

Liverpool have recorded six straight league wins for the first time since 2005-06, when they won the last nine games of the campaign.

They have scored at least three goals in each of those six matches - the first time they have achieved the feat since 1895-96, when they did it in seven.

The Reds have scored 24 goals in their last six Premier League outings.

They have scored in 20 league games in a row - their longest run since they netted in 25 in succession, a sequence straddling the 2000-01 and 2001-02 seasons.

Liverpool need two goals to record 50 at Anfield in all competitions this term - having played 16 games. Their next goal before half-time will be their 50th in the opening period during this season's Premier League campaign.

Only nine times has a player scored 30 league goals in a season for Liverpool. They were scored by Hunt, Gordon Hodgson and Rush (twice each) and Sam Raybould, Jack Parkinson and Billy Liddell.

Suarez could become only the sixth Liverpool player to score 30 goals in a season (in league and cup) on more than one occasion. In total, it has happened 24 times.
