An experimental Liverpool U18s line-up suffered a late collapse as they lost 4-0 away at Wolves on Saturday.

It was goalless until the final 15 minutes of the contest when the hosts scored four times to earn the victory.

Neil Critchley was without the likes of Tom Brewitt, Sam Hart, Jerome Sinclair, Harry Wilson, Pedro Chirivella and Sergi Canos, and he had four U16 players in the starting XI.

The young Reds gave a good account of themselves for the opening 75 minutes and created some decent openings before the home side broke the deadlock.

"We did well for 70 minutes but just ran out of steam in the end," Critchley told Liverpoolfc.com.

"We conceded two goals from set pieces and that was disappointing.

"We had a young team out because a lot of the lads played a game at Melwood on Friday with the first team squad which is fantastic for them and what it's all about, trying to make that progression."

Liverpool U18s: Andy Firth, Kane Lewis, Nathan Sheron, Corey Whelan, Kristof Polgar, Ben Woodburn, Herbie Kane, Trent Alexander, Callum Nicholas, Yan Dhanda, Okera Simmonds.
