Coutinho will now hope to feature for Brazil when they face Japan in Singapore on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Lazar Markovic was substituted after 26 minutes as Serbia scored a last minute equaliser to earn a 1-1 draw away to Armenia in their opening Euro 2016 qualifier.
Academy starlet Ryan McLaughlin was an unused substitute as Northern Ireland beat Faroe Islands 2-0 in Belfast.
