Brendan Rodgers has opted to make three changes to his Liverpool side for tonight's momentous Champions League clash against the reigning European champions Real Madrid at Anfield.

Philippe Coutinho, who was instrumental in securing a dramatic 3-2 victory over Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on Sunday, is back in the starting XI as he replaces Adam Lallana.

The manager also brings in Joe Allen and Alberto Moreno in place of summer signing Emre Can and Jose Enrique for the eagerly anticipated Group B clash against Carlo Ancelotti's side.

For Allen, the game will bring a first start since the Reds' 3-0 demolition of Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on August 31, while Moreno, who played no part in the win over QPR, returns in the left-back berth.

Mario Balotelli leads the Liverpool line once again - and the Italian will be hoping to feed off Raheem Sterling and Coutinho, who take up advanced roles ahead of Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson.

Liverpool: Mignolet, Johnson, Moreno, Skrtel, Lovren, Gerrard, Henderson, Allen, Coutinho, Sterling, Balotelli.

Substitutes: Jones, Toure, Manquillo, Can, Lallana, Markovic, Lambert.
