The Liverpool FC Foundation and Jamie Carragher's 23 Foundation were both handed a generous boost recently when they accepted a special donation from a group of passionate Kopites based in Holland.

ALSIN, which stands for the Association of Liverpool Supporters in the Netherlands, handed over funds to foundation representatives after money was raised from a coaching day held in Rotterdam in May of this year.

The fundraising sessions were for local school children aged 6-15 and included a five-a-side football tournament with other neighbouring supporters clubs. Kopites from around the world took part, with Poland emerging victorious.

Reds legend Phil Thompson was there to provide encouragement to the youngsters and those taking part in the tournament. He also presented the trophy to the winning team and certificates and goodie bags to the children.

Furthermore, Liverpool FC Foundation's community coach, Karl Carney, delivered a training session for more than 80 school children at sv DEHMusschen alongside Dutch and Belgian trainers.

Mark Haig, Liverpool FC Foundation head of operations, and Les Wright from the 23 Foundation have now been presented with a cheque to split between the two charities - and the pair were delighted to receive the funds from ALSIN.

Marc Steurs, ALSIN event co-ordinator, told Liverpoolfc.com: "It was a great pleasure to be involved with both foundations - and we'll look forward to doing it all again in 2016."
