Liverpool U21s were comfortable 5-1 winners in a friendly against Burnley at the Kirkby Academy on Friday afternoon.

Without a competitive fixture until December 17, Michael Beale's team welcomed the Clarets to Merseyside and produced a comprehensive performance.

Three early goals set the standard for the young Reds and two more followed before the break to establish a handsome advantage.

The five strikes were shared by just two players - a Jerome Sinclair hat-trick was sandwiched by Sheyi Ojo's brace for the home side.

Burnley stemmed the tide after the interval and bagged a consolation, but it was otherwise a fruitful run-out for the U21s.
