Brendan Rodgers has opted to make two alterations to his Liverpool starting line-up for the Barclays Premier League clash against Stoke City at Anfield this afternoon.

Philippe Coutinho, who was an unused substitute during the Champions League draw with Ludogorets Razgrad on Wednesday night, comes into the side to replace the captain, Steven Gerrard.

That means Jordan Henderson will lead the Reds out for the first time as skipper in league competition after donning the armband for the Capital One Cup tie against Swansea City.

Elsewhere, Rodgers brings back Jose Enrique to replace compatriot Javier Manquillo at left-back for what will be the No.3's first minutes since the win over Queens Park Rangers on October 19.

For the third consecutive game, Rickie Lambert leads the line - and he'll be keen to make it three goals in as many appearances after successful strikes against Crystal Palace and Ludogorets.

Liverpool's XI: Mignolet, Johnson, Skrtel, Toure, Enrique, Lucas, Allen, Henderson, Coutinho, Sterling, Lambert.

Substitutes: Jones, Lovren, Moreno, Lallana, Gerrard, Markovic, Can.
